At one point in time,
Life wasn’t fair,
There felt no hope,
Heart was in despair,
Till I met the one,
A well-wisher in disguise,
She said, “Don’t fear,
Joyous times will arise,
Worry not, oh dear,
Count your blessings
365 days a year.”
And so I sat by the window,
Watching the rain
Nothing came to mind,
Except the pain.
Suddenly I felt
A warmth cross my cheek
It settled on the paper
Right below my knees.
I caught it there
It was a tear from its author.
Why did you fall?
Oh tear, on my paper?
Did you want to be on the list
Of what I am grateful for?
The tear spoke,
Yes, I heard it speaking.
"I speak legends,
That your lips couldn’t,
I am a sign,
Of a greater change,
With me flows,
A part of you,
Something you were,
A Few moments ago.
I forgive,
But sometimes I scream,
I am the one that constitutes the oceans,
I am passive,
Yet so aggressive.
I can build you up,
If you hold me right.
I make you more human,
Than you ever wanted to,
I give you the power,
To heal the broken you,
I give you the time,
So you think of you,
I can make you that
Which can withstand you.
I am not cheap,
Like a silly smile,
So don’t stop me from coming,
You paid heavily for this stride.”
Tear, oh tear, I say,
You are my friend
when no one is astray.
I hear you,
I understand you,
I welcome you,
To make your presence,
I won’t deny,
The truth and essence,
What you are
I now respect,
You are the greatest blessing
I can ever have to date.
