Don't beat yourself too much about it!

We often find ourselves becoming very angry, very frequently, and very soon. And I know I am not the only one behaving and feeling this way. There are many around me experiencing this. Fighting over trivial matters, frustrated with the daily grind. I don't blame myself and nor do I blame others. Under the circumstances that we are in anger is a natural response. One shouldn't blame oneself for feeling angry. I used to do carry such guilt over my head for the longest time ever. But now I realize that it is a normal and natural response to what is happening around us. Let's look at a few factors currently in the world that are dragging us an inch closer to craziness every day.

Mindless Competition - There is a bizarre level of competition around us. And every day we need to prove something to the world. When we step outside our homes we want to be judged as well-dressed, fit or attractive, generous, friendly, classy and the list goes on. When we talk we want to come out as someone who is smart, eloquent, witty, or can think clearly, based on whom we are talking to. At work again we need to showcase our skills to make the cut. From our childhood days, we have been exposed to the ranking system and every parent only wanted to see their kid as the one that tops the class. The problem with that system is if one has to become the kid with the topmost rank, he/she has to jump over the rest in order to do that. But the same rules do not apply when we grow up. There are no rules and no scoring system that can judge who is doing better and who is not. Also, there is enough room for everyone to be at the top. All the people in the world can be at the top. But because of the mental conditioning that people have, they believe that they can't rise without stepping over another person's coat. And the other person whose coat is at stake also thinks in the same manner. In that process, they pull each other down. This continues endlessly till everyone is tired of the rut and hates the game.

No time for love - One must have heard the saying that time is the new money. When offered a paid ride for a certain distance, folks from the previous generation would prefer walking to save money, whereas the current generation would prefer to pay for the ride to save money. Because for people in the current generation time is money. Time is the new currency and everyone seems to be running out of it. No one has the bloody time to do anything. I wonder how humankind has come out with one invention after the other only to make our tasks efficient and time-saving. There is instant communication, every damn thing is available at the click of a button or a touch on the smartphone or not even that. We have our new virtual assistants that can handle our every request and mood. But all small and great inventions have failed to achieve what they initially set themselves to - save time. The more we adopt technology the more we are getting busy. The reason is beyond my comprehension. However, now one has to make time. Something that was already available and given to us, we need to create space for it to appear. I think the true measure of success would be the amount of time one has to indulge in all the activities that one wants to take up at leisure. Yes, provided the basic needs are met. Not having enough leisure time brings out an unrecognized inconvenience that cannot be satiated by anything that can be purchased with money.

Attitudes of everyone around - There are people of various levels of consciousness in the world. Maybe we are just designed that way. Brutality and violence may be a comforting space for some and for some sympathy come as natural as learning to walk. There is a high probability that one will come across all kinds of people and there is a higher probability that you have been wronged by some. A human takes 36,000 decisions in a day. A major part of this decision-making is to sort out the ones that are harmless from the rest. Isn't it too tiring to do so?

It's not easy to not get tired of doing what we do and also handle the various obstacles that come our way. Instead of blaming ourselves for getting angry at little things it makes a lot of sense to really introspecting and checking with ourselves which mental part of our consciousness is really getting hit. By clearly looking at it from a logical perspective maybe we could be in a better position to erase the mental conditioning or assumptions that are implicit in our head and replace them with acceptance. Maybe we can give more time for ourselves and stop running after the things that might not be important to us and be happy minding our own business than having no time to contemplate and blaming ourselves for feeling the anger.
